Alternator Belts Wearing Out @ 8000kms!
Posted 19 April 2020 - 09:06 PM
Using Bando brand belt / 4PK 820.
Some made in USA or Japan, 3 grooves.
Replaced the alternator pulley to see if it made a difference, no change.
Was going to replace water pump pulley with built-in pulley but could not
easily remove 4 bolts on pulley.
Any ideas what is causing and what belt part number is everyone else
Using. Thanks for any info guys!!

Did not do the straight edge. No problem with the PS belt.
No washer used on the alternator top or bottom bolts.
With belt installed I started engine and looked at belts running from
underneath with car on jack stands.
Both belts looked to run straight and true. No wobble or loose.
I get belt particles/dust from the belt being ground thinner.
Like to try a different belt next time as well as pump pulley.
I even filed the pump pulley a bit to dull it.
Some more belt options would be helpful, thanks.

How tight are you tensioning the belt? Are the pulley grooves perfectly clean? Any damage to the pulley shoulders? Are the three pulleys perfectly in line?
