1990 Sera. Is this a hard job? Do I have to remove top mount to access?

How best to remove water pump pulley. From Top of Bottom?

4 - 10 mm bolts but pulley keeps moving. How do you lock pulley for last bolt?

I have seen water pumps for sale on Ebay with built-in pulleys.

I have seen the diy on homepage. Does not give me idea of difficulty and

Helpful tips.

If your pump has a removable holes you're going to have to hold it somehow.   Could either use an old belt and hold it very tight, or if the pulley has holes through it, put a prybar or screwdriver through those.

 

Access to the water pump is awkward as alternator in the way.

 

Some of the water pumps are not complete pumps and are just the nose section.

Thanks for info guys.

I got the old type pump with the four bolts on the pulley. I had the

alternator off which needed rebuild. My other issue was belts wearing

out prematurely, like after 8000 kms. Will post in a new thread.

Wanted to replace water pump with built-in pulley (newer type).

Ended with me replacing belt only as I was puzzled with pulley removal.

What's wrong with the waterpump ? Is it leaking or is it making a noise with worn bearings? Try spinning the pully by hand with belt removed to see if it's running true no wobble as this could be the cause of the belts wearing out

Water Pump seems fine. No leak, no wobble, no noise although in the past

there was the odd squeal before I changed the worn belts.

I spun the pump a lot to see if anything not right, seems fine so I just

changed belt. Thought I could change pump with one that had the pulley

built-in to eliminate ' pulley cause' of premature (8K) belt wear.

I wouldn't change the waterpump for the sake of it ,its a pig of a job to do ,as Andrew has said in your other post make sure the groves in the pullys are clean and that the belts are not over or under tensioned it should be 15 mm deflection on the longest run

Yeah I know it now.  I had the alternator out for rebuild, so I thought it would be prudent to at least take the water pump pulley out to examine.  After messing with trying to take off the 4 pulley bolts, I gave up.

 

If I wear out another belt, I have to seriously tink of replacing with built-in pulley pump.
