These are quite basic questions, but in the absence of a handbook i'd very much like to know ....

On a manual Sera, do the engine and gearbox share the same oil (like a classic mini) or does the gearbox have its own oil?

Are the Sera tappets hydraulic i.e. self adjusting ?

Thanks in anticipation .....

engine and gearbox have separate oil systems.

tappets are not hydraulic, they have ships which can be switched or swapped to adjust clearances.

Thanks for the response, Andrew.

I suppose I had better find where the gearbox level plug is - after 5 years in my ownership it might have used a drop or two - and there's no knowing how long before I bought it the previous japanese owner checked it.

Shim (and bucket, I suppose) tappets - I had them on a Hillman Imp and on an Imp-engined Davrian. Access is easier on the Sera - but there are twice as many !

Was there ever a basic mainenance schedule published in English ? I reckon there's many like myself who would welcome knowing what to do and when.

Cheers!

Having seen your recommendation for auto trans fluid on facebook, can I ask - what grade of gearbox oil do you recommend for my manual gearbox ?
