The registration process for this forum is similar to most forums on the internet.

Firstly you fill in the online forms, choose username, password, enter email and so on. There is also a birthday question in a specific format which is to defeat spambots.

Once you have completed this form, the system will immediately email you a confirmation link. You must click the link in this email for your registration to be completed. Until then you're classed as a validating member and you cannot post or send messages to other users.

What are spambots? Spambots are programs which look out for forums and register themselves under various nicknames. They can then be used to place adverts on forums across the world very quickly, usually for pornography or things like that. Tidying up after them is time consuming. Fortunately most can be thwarted by placing extra questions during the registration phase.
