Our sera's speedo stopped working and its proably the cable.
Now does the starlets or paseo have the same cable?

according to the EPC the speedo cable is in 2 parts. The main length back from the clocks and a shorter length straight up for 6" or so from the gearbox. Can't say I've ever noticed this extra bit myself though

the short half part number cross references with a 88 camry/vista part, but I can't find another example of the top half listed. In saying that though - it's a fair bet that most of the cables available ( especially from the early 90s Vintage ) will have similar drive ends, so there's a chance that any old Toyota one will work ( Corolla, Starlet etc ) - whether it's long enough or not of course.

When the bottom half of my cable broke I bought a Starlet cable, which was one piece. Ends are identical so it should work, but haven't tested it as yet until I've Taxed the car next month. Will let you know if it works.

what's the other half for? can it be scrapped? and just use one longer one like from the starlets

Just to confirm for future fellow OZ members

Starlet speedo cable can be used, they are a 1 piece unit, all you have to do is remove the 2 piece cable and swap 'em.
Auto or manual they are both the same.

I can confirm that the Starlet cable I have used works a treat. Don't know why the Sera one is split though, bit strange seeing that it's based on the Starlet running gear.

someone has a part number ? for the compatible cabels

and someone know maybe the need length (if i put the 2  piece unit out and put only  the 1 piece in)
